Dominican Republic Expat and Travel ArticlesVisiting La Romana
It takes some time before modest locations within the country get discovered and become the next hit destination among tourists. If you are the type of person who's into the wild and raw state of nature's wonders, you will probably prefer that these tourist destinations don't get discovered at all. Another destination worth seeing in the La Romana is the Altos de Chavon, a replica Mediterranean village that copied a similar settlement near La Romana. The destination has become some form of art town with artist studios, craft shops, boutique restaurants, and other artsy places. For those looking for a place that is worth taking a picture of, Altos de Chavon has got to be it. So if you are looking for some good tourist destinations with a relatively laid back atmosphere yet developed tourist infrastructure, a visit to the La Romana should be in order.
