Man has always been on the move since ancient times. While great civilizations have been established, there are still groups of people who explored what the world has to offer, discovering other civilizations along the way and trading products and cultures. From the first men who walked the planet to Marco Polo who has had extensive traveling to China to modern-day travelers, we human beings like to wander around.
Why is it so? Why can't we all stay put in where we are right now and be contented with the lives that we have? The answer is too complex to discuss in a few paragraphs. Each human being is different from the others. His/her dreams and aspirations are unique, in the same way that his/her motivations for traveling are not exactly the same as other travelers. We can, however, take a glimpse what a lot of people have to say. I am not an architect, but I have always been interested in grand structures, especially those created a long time ago. It feels liberating to stand on structures that you know have been created by human hands centuries ago. When you know their motivations for building these great structures, you suddenly feel like you are there with them, too, sharing their hopes and visions for the future. Then there are those that, more than the structures that stood throughout history, are interested in the people who live with these structures around on a regular basis. Culture is an interesting thing. You begin to appreciate the differences that make our planet a more exciting place to be in. Having the chance to learn a foreign language in the place where it is natively spoken somehow gives you a different outlook in a life. Lastly, one major reason why I like to travel is the freedom it gives me. Having the chance to go wherever I please, make decisions as I go, and have no choice but to confident about those choices is simply empowering. It pushes you to challenge yourself even further, which is very helfpful when you decide to return to the rat race of the regular worker. How about you? What are your reasons for traveling?
